LisBeyond: A Story Worth Getting to Know

LisBeyond, a thriving property management company, emerged from the collaboration of five individuals with diverse backgrounds and a shared vision of delivering exceptional experiences to property owners and guests. This is the story of how LisBeyond came into existence.

First, Let’s Talk about the Neighbourhood.

It all started on Rua do Olival, where the founders—Diogo, Max, Maud, Tom, and José—acquired a picturesque pink building named Casas do Olival. Initially, they had no intention of launching LisBeyond, but managing the property together sparked their interest.

Seizing an Opportunity

Diogo, a communication master’s student from Vila Nova de Famalicão, initially helped a friend manage apartments in Bairro Alto. This experience with property management, especially using emerging platforms like Airbnb, ignited his passion for the industry. When he reached out to Maud, an international relations enthusiast with a knack for business development and web development, a partnership was born.

The pivotal moment came when the pink building in Rua do Olival became available. To transform this opportunity into reality, Maud enlisted the help of her brothers, Max and Tom, who had experience in economics and finance. José, a friend, also joined in.

The Launch of LisBeyond

With the five friends united by a shared vision, LisBeyond was born. They combined their unique skills and experiences to manage Casas do Olival and expanded into other properties. Their strengths complemented each other, forming a solid foundation for their early success.

Starting a business in Portugal came with unforeseen hurdles, including bureaucratic complexities and higher operating costs. They also had to adapt to the Portuguese work culture, which differed from their backgrounds. Managing both properties and a diverse team brought its own set of challenges.

Despite these challenges, LisBeyond maintained its independence, choosing not to seek external investors who often prioritize rapid growth over values and well-being. Guests and property owners remained satisfied, and the company was on track until the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic

The global pandemic brought property management to a standstill. LisBeyond used this time to strategize, expand its property portfolio, and optimize operations. The emergence of the Operations team allowed the company not only to provide an even better experience for both guests and property owners but also to focus on long-term strategies.

The Present and Future

Today, LisBeyond has evolved significantly. It no longer manages Casas do Olival and has moved offices multiple times, recently settling in the Cais do Sodré neighbourhood to accommodate its growing team.

Quality growth remains a priority, involving maintaining high property standards, fostering transparent relationships with property owners, and ensuring a motivated team. LisBeyond now manages over 100 properties across Lisbon, Porto, The Algarve, and Aljezur, boasting a team of more than 15 international employees.
